On 6th February 2014, a group of migrant residents decided what was needed is ‘a user led advice service’. Subsequently, the Community Advice Service CAS was introduced. In 2017, CAS was recognised by Channel S News for high achievement in supporting the migrant communities and in 2018, CAS was Awarded ‘Runner Up’ trophy for ‘Outstanding Partnership Work’.
CAS exsist for the benefit of Migrants living in the Black Country by the advancement of citizenship, culture, education and health, & promotion of racial harmony and the relief of poverty and financial hardship. A Migrant is someone who changes their country of usual residence for a period of at least a year, so that the country of destination effectively becomes the country of usual residence.
CAS supports an average 350 migrant residents annually. In addition to providing AIG to maximise welfare rights entitlements, CAS supports service users to enhance their socioeconomic prospects through providing access to skills & employability, English Classes, healthy living, physical and sports development, digital learning, energy saving, and cultural and cohesion activities.
